Nick Karvounis is a multi-disciplinary artist who’s practice explores the humor found in the common tragedies of monotonous life. His solo work and collaborative printed matter explore these ideas through a practice that embraces methodical studio labor and a non-traditional approach to presentation. Some of Nick’s projects include chairs that no one can sit in, an un-signed copy of the Declaration of Independence, six foot post-it-notes placed around Baltimore, a dumpster eating itself and houses falling into the ground.
Nick currently resides in a 10,000 square foot artist ran gallery and work space called Gallery Four in Baltimore, Maryland. He is also a full-time faculty member at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Resident Master Printer at Dolphin Press and Print at MICA. He received a BFA from the Maryland Institute, a Professional Printer’s Certificate from the Tamarind Institute and an MFA from the California College of the Arts. Nick has exhibited and lectured nationally, facilitated close to thirty professional print collaborations and has worked with over a dozen academic institutions.
